RE: service A required?
The only things a dealer does beside changing oil and filter is check a bunch of stuff. My dealer charges $159.95 which I thought was highway robbery, but $300 that stealing!
You can do your own service, just keep receipts and mark the service manual. Service
B the dealer changes the oil and filter and brake fluid Rotates tires and checks everything else and my dealer charges $419.95. That's criminal IMHO.
I do all my own oil and filter changes, and I had my brake fluid changed for $59 at a local independent Mercedes shop.

RE: service A required?
but if it's your first service, you must take it to the dealer for record purpose inside their database.
it is important on warranty issue.
