Default Sensors On Thermostat Housing Question

Hello all, new to the forum and lookin for some help. I need to know what the 2 sensors are mounted right beside the thermostat housing on a 1997 c280

Thanks for the quick reply. Standing at the front of the car looking at them one sits at about 12 o'clock and the other at approx 3 o'clock. Someone who has previously worked on this car broke the sensor off at the bottom of the plastic on the one that sits at 3 o'clock. So all that is left is basicly the nut and the rest of the sensor that sits down in the port. I pulled both sensors and they have the same part number and are listed online as Coolant Temp Sensor. After talking to the local Benz Dealership (not very helpful) it sounds like these should not have the same sensors in both ports? Also there is no harness or wiring running to the broken sensor and I have searched all over the engine bay and can find nothing that can possibly go to it or any loose wires. I'm assuming someone has just clipped it off somewhere in one of the wiring harnesses but again nothing looks "funny".
