Default RPM problem with my C180 when idling

Hi guys,

I need your help with a little problem I'm having with my C180 (1995). When idling, the RPM keep fluctuating and is not stable. The fluctuation is not much but sometimes it gets worse, between the range of 500 to 1000 RPM. By the way, at what RPM should the engine ideally idle?

Has anyone gone through the same or knows what can be the possible reason for it. Would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Nabeel.

I had this problem with my c240, on idle it was a bit rougth fluctuating between 500 too 1000 rpm. I just changed the leads and the idle was stable and could not even tell the engine has been started. Made a big difference.

Thanks james007 for the advice.

Currently i'm putting 90 octane. Should I start filling up 100 octane or a mix or 90 and 100.

Also what level of octance do you use.

Octane...I dont know to be honest just put in regular unleaded. I Dont think its an octane issue. Its just not sparking properly i would start with the leads becuase it would be the cheapest first, if you still have the same problem i would then move on to the spark plugs. It just a loose fitting or a worn part somewhere nothing major.
