Default rim size

I was wondering what's the biggest rim size and offsets I can put on my 96' 280 without rolling the fenders. I was looking to buy rims that are 225-40-18. Will those work? Thanks in advance.

Why do you want to put oversized rims on your car? [sm=badidea.gif]

well i just wanted to buy some specific rims, but that's the only size they carry that are 18s. i searched and i see that some people have those exact measurements on their car, but i'm not too sure if it's alright. i'm going to lower the car as well. 1.75 rear and 1.50 in the front. will those work? or should i try something else? what do you recommend?

As long as the wheel offset is in the 35mm range, you should not have any problems running those wheels, or even lowering with that size. When I went to 18s, it was slightly a rougher ride, but I'd much rather have the wheels than the perfectly smooth ride!

You should be fine if the wheels are made for Mercedes, but like I said it depends on the offset. What wheels are they?

They should be fine if the rim width is not bigger than 8.5". Offset should be 35mm or so.

offset between 31-40

no wider than 8.5 in the front and 10 rear

tire size no wider than 235 front and 265 rear

its easier if you post your size so we can tell you specificly, im not promising anything with the above specs, its a loose estimate
