Default resetting the service menu

Okay, I decided to change the oil myself in my 2002 C240. Now every time I start the car it says service B exceeded by 100, 200 miles, etc. I read my manual and it says how to reset the thing but it doesnt seem to work. When I hold down the reset button it is supposed to ask for confirmation, but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Default RE: resetting the service menu

OK>the procedure seems to be somewhat "year specific" from what I have found here on this site.
It depends on the year apparently and I have outlined the steps to do this on this site a couple of times
for people. It works for my '05 C230K, but some have said it doesn't for other years or models. Just recently
we had somebody ask about it for their '06, and my steps didn't work on his car, so.......maybe you could
do a search and try my way and if that doesn't do it, somebody else may know for that particular car.

Hope this helps you out....

Oh, yes, some have said all the doors must be closed at the time you do it.
It doesn't pertain to the '05 C230K. Works either way.

You can search it here.
I've posted it so many times people are threatening to come over to my house with large wooden
clubs and torches and re-enact a scene from The Hunchback of Notre Dame on me.
