GREAT site for us W202 owners, C280 do you know how to remove the knee pad on the drivers side? I removed the bottom cover but couldn't figure out how the knee pad is removed. I want to install DRL module and it is a lot easier to do with the knee pad off.
Thanks!!!

The pad at the bottom of the dash, or the pad the steering column disappears into. the Knee Pad Bar Mercedes calls it. DRL Daylight running lights, it is a change to a differenece module, at position N35 which is under the dash right of the light switch, but the connector is behind the Knee bar. US cars don't come with them standard, but from the information I have gathered from the schematic the connector is there. To make the job easier the knee pad needs to be removed. Mercedes makes it hard. I had a BMW all that had to be done was to change the standard headlight module for th DRL. which was under the dash but easy to reach. Reason I want DRL's in Mass you get an extra 10% discount on your insurance. When you turn the key on the headlights light up, but not as bright, when you turn on the switch they revert to normal brightness. Also, I found the headlight units have the opening for the city lights, required in Europe, these are used in the city and the DRL's are shut off. I had the city light hooked up, but to the parking lights, in Europe the highlight switch is different, and has extra setting for DRL's, city lights headligts, fog light, and those left and right parking lights.

(That does look like a helpful site. Bookmarked it right away.)
Are you sure the rattle is in the door and not the B-pillar? I thought for the longest time that a rattle was coming from the door and it turned out to be a loose metal clip for some plastic molding on the B-pillar. All it took to fix was a firm pressing on the outside of the trim.
