Default rear lights flash when armed

hi all,

please help me with a problem i'm having with my 02' c230 hatchback.

at random times, sometimes right after i lock the car or sometimes 10 mins after, the bottom lights in the back of the car blink slowly. this only happens sometimes, but for days at a time.

this has drained my battery before, also. after i changed the battery 3 months ago or so, it hasnt done it, but i just started again.

thanks a lot!,

if only the rear lights are flashing and not the front turn signals, or the mirror lights, i would suspect a badREAR SAM.( signal aquisition module)when the lightsstart to flash do they flash constantly ?or do they stop at some point? which lights are flashing on the back? is it the turn signals or the park lights. if all your lights were flashing in the front and the rear and the mirrors, but no sound then you've got an alarm issue, probably a bad alarm siren. they do short out and cause the alarm lights to flash but with no sound. If it is only your rear park lights flashing then i would say a rear sam could be the problem. if you go to the dealer and have them run a diag, it should pinpoint a component that is faulty.

okay, i found out,

the lights that flash are the front fog lights and, as the manual describes them, the rear fog lights.

so the front and rear fog lights.

and it does do it constantly (and slowly, not rapidly), unless the car is disarmed.

usually, if you arm, disarm, arm, disarm, arm, it stops.

other than that, though, it (would) do it till the battery drains.

unless you have any other ideas based on this new info, i will go to the dealer, but would like to avoid that step.

thanks again
