Default Rattling noise on my '03 c240

Hey, I'm a girl who knows nothing about cars! Haha I need help..please! Unfortunately my ex-fiancé was also my mechanic, so I'm at a loss! I'm new to these forums but I am looking for a possible explanation for rattling in my car when I turn the car on and accelerate. My ex said it sounded like the heat shield, and then he never got to look at it.

If it is the heat shield, how would I know? And he said it wasn't something that was really important/would ruin the car if I went without it... (I'm trying to avoid bringing it to the shop)

any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

could be a heat shield. i see it all the time. they get bent up and then the shield rubs the exhaust. usually the first thing someone checks out.

Default thanks!

thanks for the quick reply! Do you think the heat shield is something that can be removed without causing any issues? If so, is it easy to take off? I might see if my brother can do it.

thanks so much!

usually you can just bend them back into place. you dont really want to remove them because they serve a purpose.
