radio dead
Hi everyone. I just got a 94 c280 from a friend and the car has a few small issues. The radio wont come on at all, no display or anything but someone also broke off the power anntennae could this be why the radio wont come on? I would think the radio display would at least light up or something. Also how hard is it to change this stereo should it be bad to a aftermarket. I cant even figure out how to get the old one out of the console. Any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks, jake

RE: radio dead
Hi Jakeesspoo,
Here's what happened. Someone turned on the radio, and then the antenae tried to raise, but it couldn't because it was bent. The antenae motor overheated and blew the radio fuse. So either replace or dis-connect the antenea, and check the fuse. There is also a plug on the back of the radio which might have become unplugged, but I doubt it. If that's not it, let us know.

RE: radio dead
I found a radio fuse in the front of car and one in trunk of car and neither are blown. Radio just doesnt come on. It does blink a red light from power button when car is off though so I think everything is plugged in. Can this type of stereo just be replaced with a aftermarket model if so this is what I would like to do so that I had a cd player or auxiliary port. The local best buy car kids wouldnt touch a mercedes saying that it was too complicated...
