Hello - I' m shopping for a C230 and heard some talk about quality issues with C230 specially in the early models (of the new shape), Is it true? and have these issues been resolved , is the 1.8 L kompressor engine having adequate power (i m looking for a commuter with good MPG)

I use my '03 C230 as a daily driver. Absolutely no quailty issues after 40K. If I keep it @ 65 I get 33/34 mpg..
It'll drop of to 32mpg crusing @ 80 mph. Has adequate power to lay rubber on occasion.

Hi
I agree with the previous post. I get 29-33 mpg with my coupe depending on how much my foot weighs and how hard the A/C is working.
I have had a dull roar in the rear of the car since I bought it. Dealer swapped the rear end out under warranty but it did not eliminate the problem. Still trying to work it out. I suspect tire / suspension / temperature comination until tires warm up, but it doesn't really go away altogether.
Also currently ordered and will be replacing a sunroof lever that got tangled up in the glass panel the other day while closing the roof. Roughly $75 parts and a couple hours to figure out what-was what.
Other than that it's sporty, fun to drive, quiet (sans roar), very quick, and I can still haul kids with the seats up and 'stuff' when I fold the seats down.

Had my 2003 c230 K for 3 weeks now. Car runs like a baby. Im getting around 27 MPG, but I have a really heavy foot. Id def recommend this car, a lot of cool features, and it gets a lot of looks
Hey Polish Pat -
Just curious - automagic or 6 speed? Also, what tires are you running on yours and have you experienced any weird vibrations coming from the rear of the chassis at around 45 mph?
Thanks
