Picked out the rims...now 17" or 18?"
Hi,
After a long search for rims and tires. I finally picked one out. Me and my wife have a 2005 c230 sedan. I like the looks of the 18" but would the ride quality be greatly affected? cost isn't an issue they are $150 differnce for all 4 rims including rubber. Is there anything I should be aware of when going to 18 with 225/45 all around? I've done a search and I didn't come up with what I was looking for and all suggestions appreciated!
Thanks
Ron

Do you think you would be able to tell the ride difference with 18" vs 17"? My main concern as the bigger rims do look nicer, but I definately don't want to sacrifice the smoothness of the ride. If it is going to be noticeble I will go with 17's.
Thanks

Well if u dont want to sacrific ride then stay with the stock wheels i have the stock 15" on my 560sel and my 300sdl my friend has 18's on his Lexus and was disappointed in the fact that it made the car ride so much rougher even though they made the car look alot better.

I would say go with 18" staggered...I had that setup before and the handling was superb and of course you gotta have good tires also. in my case Michelin sport pilot.
mine's '02 and to be honest the oroginal suspension was too soft it bounce too much...didnt like it thus H&R lowering kit bought with the Mono VI. the handling was superb, I once went 135 on my way to frisco and it was smooth. Good Luck

I would go with 18's just because it looks a lot better. Check mine out

I have a 2005 C240W and I don't like the standard rims. I am looking at 18's and was wondering if you feel that you have sufficient clearance inside the wheel wells with your new rims and tires. Can you let me know?
Also, what difference does it make whether or not the rear tires and rims are wider or not? Handling is not a concern, the rims are more for the look. Any thoughts about this?
Finally, can anyone point me to a good online vendor that stocks rims that fit this car? I like the AMG rims but they are a bit pricey.
Any opinions about which rims you would choose would be great from all members.
All the best to you all.

Hey Mascar, I attached a pic of my car with 18 inch rims. I saw them at my Mercedes dealership and was told that they only make these rims for Mercededs. I can give you more details if you are interested. They are off set so the wheels in the back are bigger then the ones in the front. They have a bigger lip in the back. You cant really tell by the pic. I'll try and post up a better shot when I have a chance. Hope this helps you

Can you give me the dimensions on the rims you have there? What is the size, width and offset of the front? How about the back?
My C240 is also silver, but I don't want to put on chrome rims. I prefer silver.
How much did the whole package including rubber cost you (if you don't mind me asking)?
Is there a place where AMG rims can be bought without breaking the bank?
Thanks folks.
