Part number ? oil filter wqench

RE: Part number ? oil filter wqench
Thanks for responding mikdade.
Actually, I have discovered two MB part numbers for the oil filter wrench. It is kind of an oddball because it has 14 sides instead of the more common 15. Turns out that the Lisle(Carquest under the same part number) has what they call a 76mm wrench that works perfectly. How that could be befuddles me because the MB unit is supposed to be 74mm. I hate metric. Anyway, inside the wrench it says 76 over 74. It fits perfect and for about $8.00 how can you beat it.
I asked the question because a bloke was selling one on ebay for a much higher price, but I could not be sure it was the one for me. So now the question is moot for me because I have what I need. I guess I am kind of leery about that thouroughly stupid plastic housing and a filter element that requires the housing to be cleaned instead of a spin on. Nothing like a brand new Benz with 1950's technology. BTW, this filter is the spitting image of the filter on the Ford 6.0 liter diesel. Bet Ford wishes they never did that. For that filter, you need a 35/36 mm socket and you grab on to a molded hex on the end rather than the perimeter of the filter housing. Or an inch and seven sixteenths from your three quarter inch drive set. Everybody has one of those, don't they? :-)
