Hello. Here is some of the problems on my 2001 C320 project:
No audio at all. Radio follows steering commands but does not want to produce sound.
I thought maybe it has something to do with mute option for the phone (which I do not have).
I pulled radio out to check on the plugs - there is top and bottom connectors and middle one missing.
Also fiber optic connector goes somewhere under the console.
Could missing connector be a problem? Is it used for the CD changer?

try disconnecting and reconnecting the telephone power and interface to reset it.

can also be done by battery disconnection/reconnection.

 

Hello sleepwalker and thanks for the reply. I did disconnect motorola box 2038204826 and a battery. Still no sound. However, SOS message appeared on the dash.
And also, is there backup power source? After reconnecting the battery my seats still have memory preset. Did I do something wrong?
Please, kindly advise.

THERE IS ONE ABOVE DESCRIBED BOX IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BACK OF THE TRUNK. NOTHING ON THE SIDES, HOWEVER, THERE IS MOUNTS FOR SOMETHING ELSE. MAYBE SOME OTHER COMPONENT MISSING??

 

i think the telephone installation is not original from factory. it is possible that it has something to do with the installation.

it must have CODE 316 for motorolla.

the D2B (fiber optic) carries the sound... so better check with the interface and connections.

better if can check for fault codes by using star diagnosis.
