Default New owner of a 05 C230 CPO, questions..

14k MILES and it's CPO'd. Question: Do they cahnge the engine and transmission oil as part of the CPO? I was unable to get the service history to know if the oil change was done.

Other than oil changes, what are some of the reliability things I can invest in now. I plan on changing the engine oil every 3 - 5K miles, and the transmission every 5 - 10K miles.
I am planning/hoping to have the vehicle for some time, 5 - 7 years. Warranty expires in 01/10 and I'm hoping to find all the possible problems now.

What should I be paying attention to?

I just bought a 2006 C230 about a month ago, has 36000 on it and the blower motor went out, not sure if that is a problem but MB fixed it no charge, under warranty. You shouldn't need to change the oil that often if you use synthetic that is why they have the Service A/B set up for the intervals. One thing I do want to get for mine that I haven't yet is K&N filters for it. Mine has 2 so expensive as usual. I am by no means an expert on MB but have always taken care of my cars and never had a problem with them as long as you follow the manufactures guidelines.

I don't knok MB's policy, but I'd suggest you don't. It can void your warranty. Aftermarket Air Filters let more debris in and contaminate the oil quicker.
The blower motor? The A/C or heater? I thought the 06's went to the V6.

Yo,
I know it may be difficult but you need to get out of your "old school" mind set as this is a modern Mercedes Benz Automobile and as an owner you do not need to think too much - just do what it tells you to!

I know this is a tough transition. I also have a '97 Miata and I change the oil every 5k miles with Mobil 1, and same with the wifes Honda Pilot (non Synthetic).

The C230 however tells me what to do. Allow its computer to run the maintenance show. Do not over think it. My first service on the C230 came up at the 1 year mark since I only drove 8000 miles in that period. It then instructed me to write a $200 check to the Dealer for the Service A. I followed its advice.
If you check the computer you can find exactly in how many miles your next service is due, and you will be able to watch it count down.

I am not sure on yours - mine is an '06 but it is probably the same. I use a button on the steering wheel to toggle through the computer which displays in the center of the gauges. Eventually it shows a wrench and then you use the other button to sort through that and it tells you mileage until next service due.

you should've gotten a manual which will explain how to check the service interval count, oil level, etc. using the on board computer. also, chaging synth oil every 3-5k miles is awaste of money and oil, unless you are running in 24 hour endurance races or something.
