I am on the market for a used C230. Just wanted to get a heads up on what I should look out for when viewing vehicles and of any known problems that occur. I have seen a few 2005/6 C230 models with 40K miles for $16K.....good deal?

Thanks for all your help!

bump...

Newbie questions...
Same for me. I'm looking at an '03 with 59K for $13K at a local CarMax. I'd love to be able to take to a nearby MB dealership for a lookover but they won't go for that. Any glaring things I can be on the lookout for? Generational issues? Is an '04 better to look for than an '03? Thank you for you help.

I have an 05 with about 60k on it, I had the sun shade replaced and motor mounts (starting to get hard and you feel some vibrations on idle), replaced the brakes twice. The tires lasted about 18k for me. The gas filler had a hole (not from damage) and dealer replaced it where I paid for labor and they paid for the part, about $390 for each. That's about it. I like my car, great gas mileage and decent (not great) acceleration. Long trips about 30 MGP and 22 city driving.

If you have the VIN the local MB dealer may be able to provide a repair history for the car. If a seller won't let you pay to have a car checked out by MB then walk away.
Some years had headlight and turnsignal wiring issues but there is no way to tell by looking at the car. The issue is repairable with new harnesses. MPG is fairly good. I have never had engine or tranny problems and have never been stranded.

Thank you everyone! CarMax is socialized auto purchasing...lol. I will take the VIN they list online & have it checked. Great idea.
