i have a diesel 250 sport merc when i start it in the morning i wait for the glow light to go out which it does but once the car is started thre glow light comes back on until i drive down the road about 200 yards and the glow light goes out. when i am starting engine it sound like someone is in the engine with a hammer until it warms up then it is ok anybody got any idear what it could be please

 

i have sorted the problem it was 2 glow plugs gone down put 5 new ones and it runs like a baby thankyou for all who looked at the thread

 

hey rocky was this an easy job? ive heard tale of glow plugs snapping off in the head wich sounded a little scary apparently warming the engine before removing them helps.Im only asking as i live in the UK wich can get pretty cold and may end up doing the job myself one day,ps i find the c250d a little sluggish for a 5 cyl 20v motor have you thought about turbo chargeing yours by getting hold of a donor car,like to hear your views, thanks Heath
