I recently bought a 2001 Merc c240. A lot has been said about the reliability of this car which scares me a lot. Can someone please tell me something good about this car. Tell me some precautions I need to put in mind. cheers.

 

I have one.The cheapest quality ever built by MB.If you good with pampering then it's ok otherwise don't get it.The door handles break easily.Also you have to be handy or it could cost you.So far i do all my repairs on my own.Misfire problems and top gasket oil leaks are common.Misfires are usually caused by spark plug wires going bad and need to be replaced.Otherwise i love it.Good luck!

By the way Pejaife, I'm just wondering what to do should i lose my remote control key should I lose it, since the doors do not have a provision for other keys. Any suggestion is welcome.

 

If you don't have a spare, get one from dealership as they need your key code, VIN and driver's license to make you another one which takes days to deliver.It will cost you about $175 now.If you lose all your keys, it will cost you over about $400 to $600 to replace as they now have to track your key code in their achive.
