Default Lower suspension on my 99 C280

I am thinking about lowering my 280 about an inch. I saw a C280 sport in a Wal Mart parking lot so I parked next to it and the car seems to be lower. I have seen Eibach and H&R have spring kits, I leaning toward the Eibach as it lowers the front 1.2 and the rear 1.3 inches; the H&R lowering the car a bit more. When I had my B service, I took a look under the car and removing the R&R the springs looks straight forward. Has anyone lowered their cars? If so, anything I should know about, ie does it effect the stability and traction controls, brake assist, etc. I know the ride will be a bit firmer. One other question can I retain the stock shocks, and MB tech told me yes, as they have enough travel. Finally is the Sport lower from the factory? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Finally stopped raining in New England, we got a bit over 2 inches in a little over 30 hours +/ Better then the snow up in Mich.[sm=feedback.gif]

um if u get similar shocks but only about 1.5inch lower you shouldn't need to shorten your shocks as the standard springs are kept captive enought to allow shorter ones. if you lower your car that much it will handle better and the ride wont be much rougher,
it shouldnt affect any traction controls or anything similar. i got my back springs so short that i had to get my standard shocks shortened, but that isnt very expensive, and thats just to keep the springs captive.
Sport is lower than standard, as originally i bought "low" springs for a standard c280 and they were exactly the same height as my sport ones. +lower looks so much cooler 8-)

Thanks C280, as I mentioned, I am looking at the Eibach springs as they lower the from 1.2 in and the rear 1.2 in. The point I read in the Eibach is Mercedes-Benz cars ride height may vary due to vehicle options and Mercedes Benz factory ride adjustment shims. This original MB part is a rubber shim perch, which is located on the top of the spring. These shims vary in thickness from 8 TO 23mm. Do your think this statement is something I should be concerned about. I just want to lower the car around 1in all around, for looks more then anything else.
Also, what do the shims do? I know what a shim is for, to raise of line up say a fender/ door, and I know that suspensions will use shims, are Mercedes springs manufactured with loose tolerances as far as size of the spring?
