I need help with the lower engine cover on 98 C230. I jacked up the car to change oil-easily removed the bolts holding the front of the cover0 but could not determine how to remove the rear ones.

I searched the forum and found only one reference and that one indicated a two piece cover- Mine is one.

How to I detach the rear connectors?

I don't know for sure about your '98, but if it's the same as later model cars, the two-piece "belly pan" under the engine is held
on with several little screws.....you just have to look for them closer. The pan furthest to the rear should have the same screws as
the front one. Sometimes a flashlight helps locate them. Hope this helps.
