Default Long Time Parking Due to Travelling

Hi All,

I Have a c180 Kompressor 2003 car, i'm travelling for almost three weeks and i'm going to leave the car inside the garage untouched, so it will remain off from the whole period.

My questions is, what are the best procedures and check list that i have to take into concederation to make sure that the car won't fail when i get back. especially the battery and any vital systems in the car.

Thanks,

FD

This seems like a non-issue to me. Three weeks is not a long time to leave the car. If your battery is weak then it may fail three weeks from now but it is unlikely. If you have a trickle charger just set one up. If you are worried about leaving the chargeron for three weeks straight then put the charger on a timer.
Personally I would do nothing. Last winter I left my 02 C230 coupe outside in the cold with no charger for three months. I started it twice over the winter but the original battery failed only in the spring when the weather got warmer. I often don't drive the car for three to four weeks at a time. Three weeks in a garage should be fine.

When I go to Florida for a month and a half in the summer the day before I go I let the cars run for about 10-20 min and when I get back they are all fine. Turn right over with no issues.

I usually leave about a quarter tank or less in. Some times the light comes on a day before I go and I will put that car away first.

For the time period you are referring too it will make no difference with regard to full or not. Thats your call.
If you were to leave it for several months I have been told that a full tank is better since the water that accumulates in a gas tank over the yearscan lead to rust on those parts of the tank not bathed in gas.
I had to have a tank replaced in a 1976 Saab (two years old at the time) that rusted from too much water left in the tank.
While it is rare to get gas from to-days gas retailers, water from condensation can accumulate when cold gas stored underground is pumped into a hot tank in summer or, in reverse, relatively warm gas is pumped into a cold tankin the dead of winter.

You should always store a car with a full tank of gas. The condensation from the air happens anytime the gas is cooler than the outside air, so for both summer and winter, a full tank is best to prevent condensation or at least limit it to the surface of the tank not filled with gas. This is true with both metal and plastic tanks, though obviously rust is not a concern on the polymer, only watery gas.
If you are concerned about your full tank of fuel going stale, it is better to simply add some stabilizer prior to storage, than to store near empty to allow for a fresh tank upon your return

Looking for a car rental with no hidden surprises? This platform delivers. From start to finish, I had a smooth experience with the car rental podgorica montenegro. Booking the vehicle was fast and straightforward, and the pricing was upfront with no unexpected fees. The car was clean and well-maintained, and I was able to pick it up without any delays. The return process was equally seamless, making it a hassle-free experience overall. I highly recommend this platform for anyone looking for a reliable car rental option.
