Kompressor vs. other cars
I am very interested in purchasing a 2005 or 2006 C230 Kompressor, yet it seems like the forum is loaded with people that have problems with their Komps. I used to be on an S10 forum and they have a few problems, but it doesn't seem like there are as much.
I'm not bashing MB at all, because I really want to get one. I'm just a little weary of the quality of them now since they have merged with Chrysler.
Do you guys recommend I still get one? Or would you of never gotten a Komp if you could do it all over again?
All help/input is very much appreciated

The 06 doesn't have the Komp engine anymore. Check out the model line up at www.mbusa.com As for the 06's, I don't know of anyone having any problems yet. Mine has been flawless so far, very happy. Build quality and workmanship is top notch on mine.

i got a 05 c230 Komp...i have absolutely no problems with it...its actually a great car IMO...the 4cly produces really good numbers in the city and highway...i average about 22.5-23.5 around the city and about 28 on the highway. Dont know what the numbers are on it but its been good to me...Plus power isnt the best feature on the car but i can easily say it moves better than most 6cyl's.

HouseofAtlas,
Indeed the various C Class forums are pretty alarming.
I got past it and purchased a Granite '06 C230 with 7 speed Automagic transmission. I am about four weeks and 600 miles into it.
So far no issues of any kind. I am enjoying it immensely, more every time I drive it.
Another thing I noticed - regarding Edmunds forum - the C Class owners were really complaining and moaning. Then I checked the Honda Pilot forum (my wife drives a Pilot). And OH BOY are they carrying on there too! Our Pilot is rock solid, as you would expect from a Honda. I think many "squeaky wheels" use these forums to whine.
I think the C230 is going to be Ok!

Though i like the larger benzes I would consider a Kompressor before i would a 06 V6 but thats just personal opinon. Just dont get a 01-04 heard of problems from all model benzes during those years except the G-class. U got a 5 dollar answer on a 1 dollar question.

Basically, the quality issue was a major problem with Benz during 2001-2004. I have heard it and said it myself over a thousand times.
New Benzes seems to be very good. But don't expect Lexus kind of reliability. However, I would buy Bryan's kind of red hot Benz anytime. Also, would drive an S-Class for food.

RE: Kompressor vs. other cars
to tell you the truth, if you were going to buy an 06 C-class, i would suggest buying a C350 and the 6-speed transmission. Thats the biggest engine and the best transmission, it would be a serious kick to drive no matter how u think of it. I'm actually planning on buying one later...say about 2-4 years and twin turbo-ing it. A C350 Twin Turbo, god it would haul ***, and it will when i'm done, twin garrett series turbo's and an air to water intercooler. I love the thought of it and i think you'd love the C350 6-speed, test drive it and see for yourself.
