Hello. I just joined your forum as I'm considering my first Benz. If I follow through with this, as I believe I will, I'll be asking lots of silly questions. Right now I'm looking at a friends 2005 C230 Kompressor with 59K on it. I've also seen identical cars with the six cylinder and I'm wondering which is really best. It seems to me that the 4 cylinder with the supercharger is going to have to work alot harder and therefore encounter more problems and possibly "die" sooner. What do you guys suggest? You are the ones that will give me an honest answer, so I'm counting on you.

go for the 6

 

My vote goes for the supercharged four. It doesn't use a lot of rpm's in normal driving, is peppy, & I get 28/32 gas mileage.

 

Okay, that's two votes for the six. One of which is from a Master Technician. Can you tell me WHY I should get the six?? Please elaborate.

just fewer issues in general. i see kompressor engines in the shop all the time. but there are people who prefer them for fuel economy and the supercharger. the V6 is just less complicated and just a better engine. and when you have a problem with the kompressor $$$$. just search and see all the posts about kompressors and problems with them. The 6 is less noisey has more power and is a very good motor. easy to work on too.

 

Get the L4...better handling (the six plows in tight turns) and much better economy.
