Default Interior Dome Lights - Central Locks

Hi Everyone

I'm new to the forums in search of help to a problem with my 1999 C280.

When I start the car, the dome light turns _ON_ - instead of Off. I have to switch it off manually each time I start the vehicle.

Additionally, the central locks do not automatically unlock when I shut off the vehicle and open the driver's door - as it used to.

Is this is problem that could be fuse related? Or is this a programming error in the software somehow? Are there DIY fixes or am I headed to the dealer for this one?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

sounds like you could have a shaky ground or a couple of wires have rubbed the coating off causing a bleeding problem. Try checking the wires if you are mechanicly inlcined enough to do so. This could be very expensive to fix or it could be really cheap, because if you take it to the dealer and they find the problem right away your fine, but if they look forever, you're paying for that time.

Check your door jam switches, just below the strikers, I've seen these pushed through the hole and it causes the problems you mention.
