i have a 2005 MB c230k, my problem is when i put my key in one way the car turns on but my signal lights wont work, neither will my speedometer or other things on the console..now if i turn the key the other way it jams and jams when i try turning the car on, once i get it to go through everything works fine..what can this problem be?

 

Does the other key do the same thing exactly?
You should have two black keys for that car, right?
Try the other key and see what happens.
That will eliminate the key as the problem or tell you there is
something wrong with just that key.

 

actually i only have that one key...some one else told me i could have an electronic ignition switch failure..does anyone know what the cost to be to have that fixed?

 

i would get another key first.. its a good thing to have 2 of them.. the dealer will want to use another key to test your complaint. so you need to eliminate the fact that the problem is just a key before going any further. eis 1000.00 parts and labor just a guess. probably a bit lower.

 

can it possibly the key? it is pretty worn out..but heres the thing..when i put it in one way (benz symbol facing me) it takes a second for it to turn and the car works fine...when i have buttons on smart key face me....the key turns automatically but the console insturments dont work (gas gauge, speedometer, etc.) what can it be?
