After having done this job on my BMW a few years back, I will tell you this much......IF it's anything like
the one I did, here's some great advice: Have SOMEBODY ELSE do it! I had to take out half or more of
the dash and it was a total nightmare. Perhaps a qualified shop who has done this kind of job would be your
best bet. Unless you have a ton of tools, I wouldn't try it myself. Even then, it's a mess. A big mess. A TON
of stuff you have to deal with. Unless, of course, your vehicle was designed for an easy removal/install, which
I doubt. Usually these things are buried under the dash. Sometimes, rarely, they are accessible from the engine
compartment, but probably not. They don't do that much anymore. So, prepare for a labor bill that's up there, but
in defense of the person quoting it, I don't blame them a bit and you wouldn't either if you have ever done
one of these. Just a few friendly words of warning.
