Heater/AC don't kick on sometimes

I'm hoping someone out there can give me some advise on our 2000 C230. The AC and heater won't kick on sometimes
. Other times they are fine
. Is there something I don't know?
My daughter can drive her car to school which is about 15 minutes away after letting it heat up for 10 minutes and the heater still won't kick on. Other days, like today it worked great for me.
Do we have a problem or does the car have a grain of it's own?
Thanks for any help you might offer.

When you say the "AC and heater won't kick on sometimes", are you saying that the BLOWER/FAN doesn't start blowing anything
at all and then suddenly it does? If that's the case, you have a bad blower motor regulator. That's right. There's a small "regulator"
attached to the blower motor under the dash. When that goes bad, it exhibits the exact symptom you have. Now, if the blower comes
on and there's no cold air for the AC, of course, that's a different problem. This regulator only controls the blower motor, which, as you know, is the same for the heat and the AC. Hope this helps you. If you need that part, it's about 150 + labor from an independent garage and more, of course, from a dealer....maybe 200+ for the part and an hour or so labor to install it. Don't let anybody charge you more than an hour labor. Not that big of a job, considering that they don't have to remove so much stuff to access it. Hope this helps you out. PS>I just did this job, so I know.
