I have a 1997 C280 and I am trying to install sheepskin seat covers on the front seats...
NOW ... I understand that MBZ.. likes to hide the release button...
and after asking a MBZ mechanic.. "OFF the record".. he explained that they are usually placed
INSIDE the seat itself ...or within the headrest ...
Therefore... I spent 30 to 40 minutes ...searching and searching ...then yelling... and dam near
[:@]tore the headrest off..for good..
I WANT TO put resolve to this matter...
PLEASE Help
Thanks

On my 99 C280 you have to remove the back panel of the seat to release the headrest. Not a hard job, but having a panel removal tool helps, push down with the tool until you see the "holders" and then pull back the panel slightly. I don't need to remove the panel to get at the button, but to remove it after pulling it back, pull it up and it should come off. There is a button on the motor on my seat that you push and the headrest release.
On earlier cars, such as my 79 450slc the buttom is under the leather above the rear panel, you push in, in the case of the 450 I need to push hard, while pushing the button in pull up the headrest. The button on the 450 is located in the center and you will feel it under the leather or cloth whatever option you have.
