Was this a good buy?
Last July I purchased a 2000 C280 Sport with 63,000 miles. (I bought it because I decided to go back to college for a degree and I needed a car thats better on gas. Idrive about 100 miles a week with that car.) I paid $13,000 for a 2000 C280 with a clean report and fully serviced. It has a few noticeable scratches on the hood($300 paint job). I had a check engine light come on and I needed a new fuel sending units($400) and recently I needed a brake, radiator and power steering flush($450) and other odds and ends stuffall at a local Mercedes shop. Was this a good buy? input please.

RE: Was this a good buy?
You can check used car values on websites such as www.kbb.com or www.edmunds.com or many others. These are just two
of the reliable ones. Be sure to put in optional equipment, mileage, condition of car, state you are in, etc. as required.

It feels like everytime I get into this car it feels like or something is wrong. I have owned many Mercedes before and this one just doesnt feel right for somereason. Also I noticed for about the same price I could of bought a 2001-2002 C240 or C320 with about the same amount of miles on it. KBB does say its a good buy. But im not sure I got the best deal I could of.

With a used car, a good buy can be operationally defined as one in which after having paid for the car it doesn't nickle and dime you to death afterward. The items you mentioned seem to be basic maintenence items. I can't speak to the initial cost, however better to have paid more and gotten a reliable vehicle than to err on the side of "the deal".Regards,Will
