GAS OCTANE 99 - wow!! Opinion Please
I Have a C320, coming upto 128k miles and it gets better and better.
TODAY!!! for the first time ever, I bought the UK's Only Supply of 99 Ron Octane Unleaded Gas/Petrol.
I filled from empty, and squeezed 61 litres in the 62 litre tank.
QUESTION:
Should I get better mileage from each tank full - providing I drive sensibly, and is the 2001 V6 320 capable of adjusting for the extra Octane from regular 95 to 99??
Any suggestions would be helpful, - BTW I know the results will not be immediate!!
Thanks, and Happy Benzing

your base value is 95-97.
using more than that, the adaptation value must be changed to 97 or higher manually.
that's for the ignition timing... to advance it so it won't ping.
then the injection time must be lean 1 step manually.
yes, the control unit can adjust the ignition timing, but on limited parameter only.

Guys on on my second tank full for 99 octane, and I've covered 300 miles on this tank and still have just over 1/4 of a tank left. Thats city and highway driving, fairly sensibly. Looking at 400miles, best so far and that justifies the extra cost of 5p per litre.
Take care all - happy summer!! 36'c in the UK today ) very happy.
