Default gas leak - bad tank? Help please

I have a c240 2004 and the car started leaking gas severely. I dropped the fuel line cover and put the car on a lift . There is no leak when I start the car and let it run. If I drive the car and make the gas slosh around and then put the car up on the lift, gas pour out of what looks like a seamin tank although it may be coming from somewhere else.
1. Should I drop the tank and inspect?
2. Is it difficult to replace a tank?
3. Can tanks be patched?
4. Anything else cause this?

Thanks
Keith

Hmmmm. Not good. Did you check around the fuel filter area and the connections there? The key here is to locate the source
of the leak before you drop that tank and replace it for nothing and then have the car still leak somewhere else. If it were me and you found out is WAS the tank, I wouldn't take the tank out and "patch" it under any circumstances. This is a band-aid that might or might not work and I don't know anybody who would recommend attempting that. If the tank is bad, you need a new one. Leaking fuel is dangerous and not to be played with by any means, right? I suspect it's somewhere else, but can't say for sure
without a thorough inspection. Maybe this one time it's best to have a shop inspect it and isolate the source for you. Be careful.

IS THERE FUEL AROUND THE SENDERS WHENEVER YOU PULL THE COVERS OFF. IF SO THEN THERE ARE 2 POSSIBILITIES. 1. WHATEVER SIDE YOU FIND THE FUEL LEAKING ON THEN THAT SENDER SEAL IS LEAKING. 2. TANK IS LEAKING. (NOT SO UNCOMMON)
