Default Fuse 8 in trunk W203 -06 Sedan

Hi all, some advice should be wonderful.
Idicators:
1. Low range on remote, only IR work I assume
2. Bad reception on FM
3. Blown fuse 8 in trunk
Received ideas:
Replace rear window (short cut in wire)
Broken amplifier for antenna
Short cut in signal horn for the alarm
Take it to the old car dump...
I really hope someone have a good trouble shooting track here, I don't want to put all my summer holiday savings in the MB garage account if possible.

Hi, thanks for the tips, that was my first thing to do but as soon ignition was on it blow.
Assume that I need to select the worst option and hand it in, and just be happy than they handover the bill..

if your car a hatch back? coupe? i see you said its a sedan, ive seen a wire harness around the rear window rubbing on some metal clips and shorting out causing the fuse to blow. youll have to remove the plastic trim around the window to see the harness. since you have a sedan im not sure of the cause. what amperage is the fuse?

if its a 2 door car. ive seen the harness cause that problem, if you have a 4 door car...im not sure. Sorry.
does the panic alarm work when holding the panic button on the remote? could be a bad alarm siren too. you most likely have something shorting out.

SOLVED
Hi all, I have now solved it, it was a short circuit in the device behind the plastic protection in the front right wheel housing, just disconnected the cable and stored it behind the cover.
Both key and radio works fine now. After installing new fuse of course.

Thumbs up

I have been struggling with the same symptoms. I was ready to take it to a local shop, when I came across this thread.

Replacing the alarm siren restored my remote control and the alarm works. The FM reception also is better.

Many thanks for the advice.
