Fuel Mileage....

...I'm considering a 2005 C230 and was wondering what real world fuel mileage you guys are getting out of them. I'm trying to justify buying this car vs keeping my 04 Lariat Crew Cab F150 which gets an average 16.5mpg (20-21mpg all highway) in the driving I do. What are you guys averaging and do these cars require 93 octane or can you use 87 in them? Thanks!

The best mileage I can get with my 2005 C230K has been 33.5mpg, holding it steady on the freeway at 65mph, not passing anybody and no hills, etc. The average city/hwy. mileage just driving normally for me is about 25/26 in the city and 30 on the hwy.
The car has about 65,000 miles on it and I can only get 91 octane here in Arizona. It runs fine on that, as well as lesser octane gas, which neither I nor MBenz is recommending, but I tried it and I could not tell any difference. Your results may differ! Ha!

Thanks for the response, that's about what I was expecting and hoping for. Your highway mileage is better than I was expecting. The only down side is having to use premium fuel I suppose, I'll have to see how much of a difference there is in fuel every month if I drive 3000 miles a month and 16.5mpg @ 2.79 vs 26mpg @ 2.99. Thanks!
