Default front sway links

i bought the sway bar links parts online. how much do u think is a fair price the mechanic should charge?
i got a quote $70 labor (1 hr) for the front (left and right) sway links.

thanks.

1 hour is correct.

the labor depends on the workshop.

one sway bar link is broken, the other is loose. i provided the parts. how can i verify that the mechanic actually replaced the "loose" link. do they get dirty easily?

and the broken sway link (left) that he replaced has the bolt pointing forward when compared to the one on the right.

thanks.

he did it wrong.
it must be on the same direction.

you can tell the new from old ones. ask for the old parts.

which direction? the bolt should be facing backward or forward?

on the left link (broken) that he replaced, the bolt is facing forward.
the loose link (right) that he "replaced" is facing rear (backward)

thanks so much.

I have a sedan C240 (4-door).
Thanks.

The bolt fell off on the replacement sway bar link that he supposedly replaced on the "loose" earlier last week. the bastard probably did not replace it and am seeing the original being tear & wear.

he put on a new bolt so hopefully it wont break off anytime soon.

moral of story: dont get car service at gas station at highway exit. goto mechanic who own garage in center of town.

i work on the edge of town so it isnt very convenience. but i should have taken the cab to avoid all this headaches.

argh!
