I've a C200 coupe 2002 the engine light is on. When the cars standing the entire engine shudders and when i pull away there is no acceleration even if my foot is flat to the ground. Its an automatic and it seems to rev up and struggle in the lower gears. I've had it at a merc approved garage and they replaced the chip on the top of the engine which controls the air flow? It's made no difference. Has anyone had the same problem or know what's causing it.?

 

if the engine shudders... then it must be misfiring.

if 1 or 2 cylinder misfires, there is no acceleration.

 

I had an ignition coil go on mine. It had the same problems you are having.
