Engine vibrates on idle, then hesitant acceleration
Hello all.
I have a 2000 ML430. On some occassions, more lately now. The car will vibrate on idle when it is at running temperature. it feels like its running on a few cylinders less. On acceleration it is hesitant and will upshift reluctantly. This weekend the car displayed the ESp/BAS and ETS warning lights. I was at the lights. i switched the car off, and restarted, the lights went away and the car performed well all weekend. However today, the hesitation and rough idle came back. Does anyone have any thoughts. i have read other posts here relating to Mass Airflow sensor. If this is my problem does anyone from Adelaide Australia know where I can pick one up at a reasonable price.

The EPS/BAS and ETS lights are related to your brakes. The rough idling is most likely your injector nossles. They may need some sort of servicing due to bad fuel or impurities or incomplete combustion of certain fuels. Consider relacing them soon perhaps after about 3 services like the one you are about to do.
had exactly the same problem in our ml320. A new air flow sensor did fix the problem however it cost over $400. You can get one from the mercedes dealers like chateau at glen osmond or b.e.a. at mile end. Because its a genuine part i doubt you will be able to get it at a reasonable price.
My 2000 ML has always idled rough. The #5 coil went out and then it started missing. We replaced the coil and wire (not at MB dealer), they wanted $1200 to fix it. I took it to a very reputable Mercedes mechanic with his own business and he fixed the problem for $416.00. Now you can’t even tell if the car is running!!!! Find a good MB mechanic if you can and save big money! For those warranty items go to the dealer.
