Default do all c-class let you know when...?

I have a 2003 C240 and just yesterday as I was leaving work I stepped on the brake (I was at a downward angle) and the brake seemed to "scratch"...I thought that maybe it's time for new brakes, but as I put my foot on the brake again (now in a completely flat road) it didn't do the noise anymore. The rest of the day I didn't hear anything else from the brakes, but this morning the same thing leaving work...

Do most c-class tell you when you need new brakes? Could my brake fluid be low and when the car is at an agle, it causes something to rub? How much should I expect to pay for new brakes?

Thanks!!!

Funny you said that i have the same problem on my 2000 C280 Sport. I belive you and I will need new pads soon. The dealer told me to just let them wear down and I should be good till about 60,000 miles. Im at 56,000 now

On my C220, i heard the same noise comming from the rear driver tire i took it off to check the pad and it was halfway done.. so i just put it back on and smacked the caliper a few times and it ran just fine no sounds no nothing

Here's the problem with the C-class, they have brakes on all 4 wheels, imagine that, yet MB engineers in an effort to make your C-class more affordable only uses one sensor on one wheel (passenger side front). So in a perfect world, all brakes wear evenly, all calipers have even amounts of friction, all are the same because as you may have seen already, MB has perfect quality control. In an imperfect world, you are screwed, any one of the 3 other wheels can have totally worn brake pads, metal on metal and you would never know because you live in the perfect world MB made for you, not the reality your car lives in.

thanks..i think the pad on the driver's side front wheel is the one that is making the noise and since the sensor is on the other side, i won't get any warning...does anyone have any diagrams on how to change the brake pads? I would like to see how easy/difficult it is before attempting it...

Thanks!
