Default Dirt or Goo in diesel system

Hi all, has anyone experienced dirt, goo, gunk or whatever getting into the diesel system. I drive a 250 TD and it just dies on me from time to time. This is going on since last Sept. and it's killing me. It's been to the garage to get cleaned out, but after one, two or three weeks it starts acting up again. It's back in the garage again as I write. Any helpful solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

There is an algea that actually grows in diesel fuel and plugs up fuel filters and injecters.

We used to sell an additive called Redline for diesel and it was on the Mercedes-Benz approved chemical list at one time. There was another additive called Diesel Doctor not approved as I recall.

The MB Dealer I just left didn't sell anything for it, not so many diesels in the Dealer these days but I'm sure it's still available.

You will probably need to replace your filters.

Had the mechanic check the fuel filter, ( small one on top ), after about 60 miles driving. Still some black spongy stuff in system although driving ok. Cleaned filter with compressed air and refitted. I will have to check again after a week or so. Hopefully it's getting less and less. I will keep you all posted.
