Defroster Stays on in Auto mode

Default Defroster Stays on in Auto mode
I have a 2006 C230 and today the front defroster came on and won't turn off while the climate control is set to Auto (doesn't matter what temp setting). Everything works fine with Auto disabled but, the weather is getting warm here and a blistering hot defroster makes it uncomfortable.

disable auto and just blast the ac =) lol
