Default Crank Position Sensor

I have a 1995 C280 and appear to have a bad crank position sensor. Can you tell me where it is located on the engine, and what is involved to gain access and change it?
Thanks For Your help,

POSITION: on rear left of engine, above the starter.
TASK: detecting the crankshaft position and engine speed contactlessly by means of the segments or teeth of the driven plate.
PART: inductive sensor /coil/ with 2 pin coaxial plug contact.

Thank You Platonmind. It appears the only way to get to it, is to approach from underneath the car by removing the starter?
