Default coolant level sensor replacement

How do I go about replacing the sensor on an '97 c280? The level is fine yet the light is staying on. Thought a cheap attemped fix would be to replace the senor but I do not see how to access it in the overflow container. Thanks, Dave

Default RE: coolant level sensor replacement

Well in case anyone is interested you need to pull the overfow tank (drain it and disconnect and cap hoses) as the sensor is mounted in the bottom of the tank! Not the greatest design, couldn't a cap mounted or filler tube attachment work just as well? But then the dealer couldn't charge you 1-2 hours to replace a $12 part! Oh yeah that is from a 3rd party, Benz would charge your 2x that for the part at least! Dave
