bought a 1997 c 230 with 166253 miles on it. i,m having trans problems. put it into drive &
it wouldn,t move, put it back in park , then back in drive it moved but would not change gears. engine light icame730 on
Ran a scanner check on it ,came back with code 730-fault memory? Please help
also changed trans filter & Fluid.

 

what does 730 means? ( i think you need to read the fault from ETC or trans control unit).

was the trans in emergency mode? (only 2nd gear).

does it indicate the right gear recognition in the cluster?

does the connector on the ETC control unit got presence of oil?

you may need to take the car to the workshop who got good technicians.

it won't be easy for you to diagnose it now because the fault code has to be deleted anyway in order to bring the function back to normal and continue with diagnosis.
