Center Dash Lights
I have a 2000 C230 Sport and recently my cluster and center dash lights have been acting up. On the cluster the LED displays for the time and temp are incomplete and goes in and out as I drive. The illumination on my climate comtols are also out. Can't see at night. What should I do? Can I fix this myself?

I've got the same problem with the instrument cluster. You can't fix the display yourself. I've researched and contacted several instrument clsuter epair shops who , in one way or another, say they don't work onMercedes clusters afer 1997 model year. Anyone know of a reputable repair shop that can repair these digital circuit boards? I think it has more to do with temperature changes and solder joints than anything else.
I'm looking for info on replacing the climate control lights as well.

As far as the climate control lights go. You need to get some radio removal keys for your model and pull it out. There are two slots you see on the bottom right and left on the box. Just slide the keys in, when they lock pull em out. The bulbs are at the dealer and only cost a dollar or two. The bulb is located on the bottom of the control box and is a very small circle. You might want to put some elelctrical tape over it when you replace the bulbs. The cluster problem is from the solders. You can pull them out but it will take some special tools and is a little tricky. Then you simply need to inspect and repair where necessary. Both sets of special tools can be purchased on Ebay for ten bucks or so. Hope this helps.
