Default cd changer not recognized by system

i bought a factory cd changer for my 02' c240, i took it to a shop to get it installed. they charged me almost 200 bucks! at the end of the day when they connected the cd changer it displayed "No Cd Changer" on the radio. the guys at the shop insisted that the cd changer was defective. so i took it to a benz dealer to get it checked out. they tried to program the car to recognize the cd changer but yet no luck. so they plugged in a new cd changer and still no luck. two hours into it i had the choice to either let them continue searchin for the problem at $99/hr or take it home. at this time i had already put $400 into this project with no results. has anyone had this problem or know of this problem? plz let me know because i'm running out of ideas and MONEY! lol

I just bought an aftermarket OEM MB CD changer for my 2000 K230K Sport. The dealer had to do something with the D28 ring because even though the vehicle was wired at the factory for the fiber optic cd changer, it wasn't hooked up at that ring for some reason and it showed 'No CD Changer' on the radio when hooked up by me. No explanation why it would be wired but not connected at the ring. Just had to pay about $250 to get it done, including removing the center console. Surprise, surprise!

I have a factory CD change in my C230 (2002) and it's not working. My gf bought me another factory CD changer as a gift. I was about to bring it to some local audio place to have them to install it for me (just swab it out and put the new one in). HOwever, after reading the previous post, it sounds like even though my car is already pre-wired for my old CD changer, but for some reason, I still need to bring it back to the dealer to ask them to take the old one out and put the new one in, IF NOT, the computer will not reconized it?????? Man, if that's the case, it really sucks. But have no choice, b/c I am so sick listening to radio.
