Default CD Changer Installation

Does anyone know where I can find instructions on installing a six-disc CD changer to my 2002 C230 kompressor? I bought the changer aftermarket and am hoping that the installation process is simple enough to do myself. Thoughts? Thanks.

DON'T DO IT YOURSELF. It's too much trouble. Been there, could not get it to work on my 2001 C230, even with pretty detailed instructions.

You have to take off the center console and the center vents ... do the fiber optic connections in the trunc, connect the power... etc. If you get it all right, it still won't work because you need to electronically tell the central receiver to recognize the CD player, the instructions for which I could not find anywhere. I gave up after spending two evening working on it. Have the dealer install it for about $150 and keep your warranty, if any.

You also run the risk of frying the electrical system in the process ... which no warranty would cover if you're not a licensed technician.

I change my own brake pads and the savings are worth it. The CD changer? it's not worth saving the $150 ... trust me on this one.

after installation of course you must take it to the dealer or anybody who got star diagnosis.
it was mentioned on the installation instructions together with the unit.

we need to tell the COMAND or AUDIO unit that a cd changer and a telephone is installed.

it's just a "read and change coding" on central gateway or EIS. you may even have them coded before installing.

Hay everyone!!! So, any one have these detailed instructions available? I'll give it a shot. One thing - you come to dealer to install it - another - to activate... Also, 3 power wires sticking in the glove comp. missing connector. I purchased connector, but can not figure the order (color combination of this wires). Thanks.

Thanks sleepwalker! You are the lifesaver! It's WDBRF64J31F080547. The main thing I need is to figure - where to connect fiberoptic cable(A 203 540 34 08) coming out of the cd changer and how to connect loose 3 wires to connector (A 029 545 55 28). Have a happy holidays boys and girls!!!
