Hi Rustee,
I'm new to this forum too.
This may be a bit of a long shot but have you checked the condition of your battery.
I had a similar problem last year. I even tried to get a jump start from a little Peugeot and I still couldn't get it to turn over. Finally I was jump started by someone with a more powerful portable jump unit.
He advised me to buy a new battery and it's been fine ever since.
So it would seem there was enough battery power for the auxiliaries but not enough for the starter motor which requires a mammoth amount of battery juice.

Hi again,
If it's a small piece of tubing that looks like it's headed under the car then this should be attached to the back of the battery (near the + terminal). I guess it's there to take any spillage to the outside of the car rather then into your boot (trunk).
