Default C280 Problem Help

Thanks in advance for any ideas you have.

I've got a 1999 C280, 95K miles on it. Had a weird problem yesterday while driving--it started running really rough, and would go to 4000RPM before shifting up. It seemed almost like the transmission was bad. I pulled over, turned the car off, turned it back on, and it runs PERFECTLY OK now. Checked the transmission fluid (yes, I have the optional dipstick) and level is good. I had the trans fluid changed about 15K miles ago, so the fluid is good. Everything seems OK now.

Any ideas as to what happened?

Default RE: C280 Problem Help

Yesterday my 99 C280 back windows would not go up. It was pouring. I finally got them to move by hitting the window buttom in sucession about 50 times it seems.

I got to my destination. Had an 1 hour meeting got back into the car and the rear windows worked fine. When I arrived I opened them, as they opened one touch fine. But I closed them with the key.

Try this "trick" Disconnect the NEGATIVE GROUND on your battery for at least 10 minutes. This will reset the CPU. If it runs OK aftet that it was probably a gremlin in the CPU. I noticed your mileage is high. Perhaps it is time for new plugs and filters and have the O2 sensor and MAS sensor codes checked. Nothing last forever.
It will cost some bucks but the 100K service is a major deal and should be done. 5K miles under is OK. Most car makers say 5K miles either side of a scheduled mileage maintenance is acceptable.
