My 1995 C280 is getting hotter than normal. Temp. rising to 110 to 120 Celsius. Fan clutch is new. Noticed that aux. fans are not running adecuately...do not run at high speed when needed. Fan relay is ok. Need to know how to pinpont problem...Thanks

Default RE: C280 overheating

Hi,

I have a 1994 C280. I would begin by replacing the thermostat and radiator cap. If that doesn't help, replace the aux. fan sensors. There's one on the engine block near the PowerSteering unit, and another one near the radiator. The sensors are relatively inexpensive and so is the thermostat and cap. I've had to replace the cap and thermostat twice since I've had my car. I bought it in 2000 with 55K miles on it; now I have 170K.

How do you remove and replace the thermostat?
