i have a 1995 C280 and there's a list of problems a mile long with it that I'm having fixed this week besides the air pump that it desperately needs
i'm a 16 year old kid and i refuse to pay $700 for it from Performance parts or a mechanic so I've been looking online for it and i can't seem to find any websites that sell them for under $500 however I did find one on eBay for $150 off a salvaged 94' C280 which I'mcontemplating pouncing on..
now here's my problem, I know that with my year of car, there's two models of some parts and I need my vin number to see if the part will work with my engine type. so how do i determine if this air pump will work with my car? do I call a mechanic and read them the number off the air pump and give them my vin number? Also, what's that wire hanging off of the pump? I'm assuming I'll need to buy a replacement for that correct?

 

Might I suggest Uneedapart.com. They have a network of used auto parts (wrecking yards) that will respond with a price via e-mail. Most offer a warranty. For a 1995 it's not a bad idea.
