Hi guys,

My audio systems' lights are dead...or lets partially alive...sometimes it comes on and stays on for variable time and sometimes it would be dead for mins hours or days...like i said variable time..So CD, Radio works just fine....only no lights on audio system so i cant tell whats playing...i can see it on my dash board but not on audio system itself....what should i do?

My car has little bit of history and i dont know if it might have anything to do with it....If you have any suggestion based on just the questions let me know...or if you need to know more details its right down here...thanks guys...pelase help

I bought c280 2007 with 4033 miles back in may 2008. I bought it off of used car lot. The seller told me that car had minor water damage in rear passenger side floor. He gave me 2 months/2000k miles warranty. I bought the car and everything was great...it had some smell but once i cleaned it enough it was gone. Besides that little smell everything else was working perfect.

Anyways 2 month down the road my car broke down and dealer refused to do anything about it cauz i was over 2000 miles warrenty. I took it to mercedes dealership and found out that whole engine needed to be replaced due to water damage....long story short, everything got fixed but it voided my manufactured warranty.

After that my car was good as new. When i drove of the car from Mercedes dealer...My audio instruments lights were off....I stopped the car and started it again and lights came back on...no problem great...after that that happened may be once or twice in 6 months....then it started to happen more n more..

Last month one idiot rear ended me. My car had minor damage but workshop took 2 week to fix it....ever since i got it back the light started going off very often but i would stop the car and it would come back again....then it started happening every other time...once i start car it might be on or off......since last one week all lights of my audio systems is out.....i dont know what to do now.....i dont have warranty...n i know if i take it to dealership...they will charge me arm n leg.....what should do?


any suggestions?

 

maybe in the dash wire for radio ligh is loose or fuse for radio light check it

 

im pretty positive you need a radio.. but you can try some stereo repair places...they can fix alot.

 

If radio wires for lighs are loose than i have no clue what to do....if fuse are loose...do u know anywhere where i can get map for fuses?

 

well I'm not sure if I really need whole new radio...cauz last whole weeks lights were on....and radio works just fine....no problem at all....just no lights....last week i light came on and stayed whole week...surprise surprise...now its gone again...but radio n cd plays fine...no diff in sound...I'm leaning more towards loose wiring or loose fuse...any idea where i can fine map for fuses?

 

left side of your dash board pop off the cover. should be a chart in there.
