C280 1995 Overheating
Hi All,
My car (C280,1995) is in a very good shape, but lately began to run hot. The gage shows 98 to 100 on a freeeway at the speeds over 65, but as I slow down it goes over 100 and goes all the way to 110 when I stop; and it's not too hot in LA yet! My mechanic told me to replace radiator and asked $700 for parts and labour. I had radiator replaced this morning at a specialty Radiator shop for $460. But... It didn't cure the problem.
Right now the car is at the local mechanic, who wants to replace the thermostat. Am I doing the right thing?
Thanks for the help guys
Cheers
Leo

Sorry if this is a repost.
Yes, they should have checked the thermostat before they did the radiator.
I would first make sure they have checked the auxiliary electric fans behind the radiator to make sure they work and that their thermo switches are operating correctly to turn th fans on and off at the right times.
